Ooh! OOOH! Is that a design "branding" of your name, by any chance?

Nice, anyway!

Heh, I hadn't thought of it as branding, but it *is* a nice lgo, innit? And I do like how the big-ass, monolithic, larger-than-the-title surname is all like "Duncan, mofo! THE Duncan. What other frickin Duncan is there, yo?"

Vain, moi? Never!

So what is the book going to be?

Kind of a figurative sociography of SF woven through with literary theory, the former based on the Notes from New Sodom columns, the latter on various posts here over the years, but the whole... consolidated rather than just collected. The material's substantially rewritten, fleshed out and stitched together in a way that's probably quintessentially Duncanesque.

Some of the "fuck this shit" mentality of The Stuff Our Dreams Are Made On. Some of the lit-crit essayism of The Jewl-Hinged Jaw. I think of it as what you'd get if Disch met Delany down a dark alley and Shit Got Real.

Whoa! I suppose there will be a Kindle Edition, too?

Not sure. Since I'm more interested in strangeness like the upside-down interpolated notebook passages in Dhalgren or Bester's "BRAWLING SPANISH STAIRS" sequence in The Stars My Destination than in the pseudo-strangeness of tropes, that's reflected in the occasional use of typesetting trickery. Converted to yer common or garden ebook, I'm not sure the text without the layout would really consitute an edition of the book. It might well happen--no reason not to, for those as want it--but I think it would really just be a transcript.

You wouldn't lose anywhere near as much as, say, with a reflowable ebook of Danielewski's House of Leaves that dropped all the typesetting tricks, but how the text performs on the page is part of the book, and that part would/will be absent.
